300 Blackout
Subsonic 300 Blackout with a lead-free primer
Shadow is our 220 grain subsonic 300 Blackout load for suppressed rifles: a total metal jacket bullet at about 1,010 fps with a lead-free primer. With a suppressor, the primer matters more than anywhere else. The rifle blows part of its gas back toward your face, and with a conventional primer that gas carries toxic lead. Shadow takes the lead styphnate out of that gas, and the total metal jacket encloses the lead core, base included.

Running subsonics in an AR
Subsonic 300 Blackout runs on less gas than supersonic loads, so how well any subsonic cycles a semi-automatic depends on the rifle. A pistol-length gas system helps, and so does a suppressor, which adds back-pressure. If your rifle short-strokes (the bolt doesn't lock back on an empty magazine, or the next round doesn't feed), an adjustable gas block or a lighter buffer is the common fix. Bolt-action and single-shot rifles don't depend on gas at all. As with any new load, run a box through your own rifle before you buy a case.
Shadow is a quiet range load, not a hunting load: a total metal jacket bullet doesn't expand.
