Your cart is full, the ammo is in stock, and you want to know whether it will actually show up at your door. Short answer: yes, in 40 states, with nothing more than the rules in the next section. Seven states add a card, a permit, or a dealer transfer. Colorado now checks ID at the door. And a few places we cannot ship to at all. State ammunition law moves quietly and often without much warning, so treat this page as your starting point, not the final word.

The rules that apply everywhere
- 21 and older, every caliber. Federal law sets 21 for handgun ammunition and 18 for rifle ammunition, but several states have moved rifle ammunition to 21 as well. We apply one line nationwide: you must be 21 to order 9mm, .223 Remington, or 300 Blackout from us.
- Ground only. Carriers move small-arms ammunition by ground, never by air. Orders ship from Chattanooga, Tennessee by UPS or FedEx Ground, packed and marked under federal limited-quantity rules. Nothing travels through the postal system either, which is why PO boxes, APO/FPO addresses, and U.S. territories are not on the list.
- Someone 21 or older should be there to sign. Carriers may require an adult signature at delivery. In Colorado it is mandatory (details below).
- Free shipping on orders over $199, and free local delivery in the Chattanooga area.
- Every order is reviewed by a person before it ships (how that works is further down).
Where we cannot ship ammunition at all
- Alaska and Hawaii. Not yet. Ammunition travels by ground only, and no carrier we can currently book will take it across the water. We are working to line up one that will. When we do, Alaska and Hawaii customers will be the first to hear about it.
- Washington, D.C. District law does not allow direct shipment of ammunition to residents.
- Chicago, Illinois. The city requires a Chicago weapons dealer license to sell ammunition to anyone inside city limits. We do not hold one, so we cannot ship there. The rest of Illinois ships fine with a valid FOID card (see below).
States where your order ships to a licensed dealer, not your door
In these three states, the law puts a licensed dealer between us and you. You pick the dealer, we ship to them, and you complete the state's check at pickup. Dealers usually charge a transfer fee, so ask before you choose one.

States that ship to your door once your card is on file
Send us a photo of the card and a matching photo ID. Reply to your order confirmation, or email info@ecobullet.us before you order. Once verified, we ship direct.

Colorado: ships to your door, with an ID check at delivery
No card, no permit. What changed: Colorado's HB25-1133 took effect on July 1, 2026. It raised the minimum age to buy ammunition to 21 (with narrow exceptions we do not use, since every EcoBullet order is 21+ anyway) and requires whoever delivers ammunition to confirm the recipient is 21 or older and collect a signed acknowledgment. Plan for it: someone 21 or older with a photo ID has to be home to sign, and the package will not be left on the porch.
Where shipping just works
Everywhere else: no cards, no permits, no dealer. Just the 21+ rule and ground delivery.
- Northeast and Mid-Atlantic: Delaware, Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Vermont.
- South and Southeast: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia.
- Midwest: Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin.
- Southwest and Mountain: Arizona, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Wyoming.
- Pacific Northwest: Oregon, Washington.
What changed in 2026
- Colorado (July 1): minimum age 21 for ammunition, plus an ID check and signed receipt at delivery, under HB25-1133.
- California: the Ninth Circuit reheard Rhode v. Bonta in March 2026. The ammunition background check stays in force until the court rules. If it falls, the California row above changes the same week.
- Virginia (July 1): the new laws cover certain semi-automatic rifles and magazines, not ammunition. Virginia orders ship as before.
- Rhode Island (July 1): the state's new firearm law also leaves ammunition alone. The Blue Card requirement above has been in place since 2023.
How we actually check this
Every order is reviewed by a person against its destination before it ships: the state, the product, and the paperwork on file. Not an automated checkout rule. If something is missing, we contact you and hold the order rather than cancel it. If we cannot legally ship to you, you get a full refund to your original payment method.

Frequently asked questions
Which states can't get ammunition shipped from EcoBullet?
Alaska and Hawaii (no ground carrier across the water yet), Washington, D.C., and the city of Chicago. Every other state either ships direct or ships to a licensed dealer.
Do I need an FFL to buy ammo online?
In most states, no. California, New York, and Massachusetts require a licensed dealer in the middle. Illinois, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Rhode Island ship direct once we have your state card on file.
How long does delivery take?
Orders leave Chattanooga within 3 to 5 business days. Ground transit adds 1 to 5 business days depending on your distance from Tennessee.
Can you ship ammo to a PO box, APO, or FPO address?
No. Ammunition cannot travel by air or through the postal system, so it needs a physical street address in the contiguous 48 states.
I'm 18. Can I order rifle ammunition?
Not from us. We ship .223 Remington and 300 Blackout to buyers 21 and older only, the same standard as our 9mm. Several states, including Colorado and Rhode Island, already set 21 for all ammunition, and one nationwide rule keeps every order clean.
What do I do if I live in a restricted state?
Contact us before you order. We will tell you exactly what is needed and, if a dealer is required, help you find one near you. You know before you pay, not after.
Do you ship straight to my door in Colorado?
Yes. Nothing to send us. Just make sure someone 21 or older with a photo ID is available to sign for the package.
